Where did I get the plant from:
Received as seeds in 1991 from Mesa Garden ( #1997.9 ), with the name Yucca recurvifolia. The seeds where collected by David J. Ferguson in his garden in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and in his garden Yucca recurvifolia blooms together with Yucca glauca, so this is probably the "parents" for this beautiful hybrid. I have two clones of this hybrid (192A & 192B) but only one of them has flowered (192B). 192A is not as large as 192B.

Short description:
Plant acaulescent, but in time developing a short stem. Mostly one rosette, but occasionally is forms two or more rosettes, formed from the rhizomes. Leaves: Very dark green with a tint of violet-bluish in it, up to 55 cm long, 16 to 19 mm wide around the middle, occasionally a few short thin fibers at the margin of the leaves, smooth except for the upper 10 cm on the underside, which is somewhat rough. The tip of the leaves has a very sharp amber colored spine. Inflorescence: UNKNOWN. Scape: UNKNOWN. Flowers: UNKNOWN. Fruit: UNKNOWN. Seeds: UNKNOWN.

Where do I grow the plant:
The original plant is cultivated in a raised well drained bed. And I am testing 10 of the tissue propagated plants, in different soil and locations in the garden.

Hardiness:
So far it has been very hardy, it does not show any damage after the winters. In moist winters like the winters of 2007-8 and 2008-9 there were many spots on the leaves coursed by Yucca leaf fungus, so a sunny dry place for the plant is to prefer.

Other remarks on this hybrid:
It is very slow growing, but worth waiting for, as it does not look any other Yucca cultivation.

Both of my clones are very difficult to propagate, and I have not been able make more than a two cuttings of each in the first 13 years! But now  plant plants is finally available, as in the winter of 2003-2004, did the Dutch in vitro lab Succulent Tissue Culture (STC), get a cutting of #192A and in  August 2006 did I get the first plants, which is ready to be sold (You can buy this plant, and other interesting Yucca hybrids in the web shop ).

Besides my two clones of this hybrid, do I have knowledge of at least two more which is cultivated in Germany, both in Rüdiger Mattern's garden. All the four different clones are quite different, but they are equal beautiful. Rüdiger Mattern has succesfully propagted one of his clones by rhizome cuttings, but the second clone he has not been ableo to propagate, while it does not develop sutiable rhizomes for propagation.
