This hybrid is made by Fritz Hochstätter in 1999.

The seed parent were a garden form of Yucca filamentosa and the pollen parent a 20 year old Yucca elata, grown from seeds by Hochstätter.

I do not grow any of this hybrid my self, but a friend of mine Tim Behan whom is gardening in Massachusetts has several forms of this wonderful hybrid. Some plants are trunk forming and others forms clumps as Yucca filamentosa, but all have very beautiful inflorescence, as you will see on the photos below.

This is the plant which the pollen to the new hybrid, made in 2008, Yucca sp. [gloriosa forma robusta] "Hæstrupvej" X Yucca 'Filata' (BMJ # 2138) were from.

Yucca 'Filata' has already been used to make new hybrids of, but the seedlings are still young, so we do not know yet, how they will be looking when they are mature.
